This is a picture of what my next three weeks will look like. Last night, my mom, sisters, and I went shopping for the fabrics that will become my niece’s crib bedding and accessories. I’m excited about all the cute prints we got although the amount of work on my “to-do” list is a bit daunting, not least of all because I still have a baby shower (Feb 13!) to plan as well as my own work and life stuff to deal with. Still, the cuteness helps. There is a yellow damask cotton print that will become a cover for the crib bumper, a variety of fun cotton prints that will become fitted crib sheets and decorative pillows, a striped flannel (not pictured) that will be the bedskirt (cribskirt?), and a white ribbed chenille that will become a quilt backed with the peppy orange pin dot fabric. The nursery walls are two shades of blue punctuated by a white chair rail and white trim. The baby furniture is a gorgeous antique ivory set from Pottery Barn and my family ordered an ivory chenille rocker that will go in the corner. We’re still shopping for the decorative accents, including window treatments and a rug, but plan to incorporate more bright exclamation points of color (orange swing arm sconces, anyone?) that will pop against the white and ivory palette of the large furniture pieces. This will be a beautiful nursery. I have a feeling it’s not only baby Lily that will enjoy spending time in here. The color palette feels so cheerful and modern.
